Bawls Introduces BMX Cans

Miami, FL – August 26, 2008 – In continuation of the brand’s commitment to BMX racing, BAWLS Guarana announced the launch of a limited-edition line of BMX racing-branded cans, now available nationwide. Proceeds from the sales of these BMX cans will go to support the growth of BMX racing in the US.

Fresh off the sport’s debut at the 2008 Summer Olympics, BMX racing is a still-growing force in the extreme sports community. Proceeds from all BAWLS BMX can sales will be donated to the American Bicycle Association (ABA) – the nation’s leading BMX racing sanction – to benefit new track building, rider development and local racing programs.

BAWLS Guarana is a long-time backer of BMX– the brand serves as the “Official Energy Drink” of the ABA and is an active sponsor of several top level pro riders. “BAWLS Guarana’s involvement in BMX racing over the last two years has left me and our employees hooked!” commented Founder and CEO Hoby Buppert. “These cans allow us to thank the BMX racing community for their ongoing support.”

"We're very excited about the release of these new cans,” said ABA Marketing Director Shannon Gillette. “This shows the continued commitment that BAWLS Guarana has towards BMX racing and the ABA BMX programs. It's great working with companies like this!"

The cans will be unveiled the beginning of September in stores and race tracks near you. Can artwork also features the logos of the ABA and Intense BMX. The debut of BAWLS Guarana’s BMX cans also marks the start of the brand’s annual BMX contest, promoted on the limited-edition packaging. BAWLS fans can enter to win one of 25 limited-edition BAWLS BMX racing bikes, made exclusively by Intense BMX. No purchase is necessary to enter at www.bawls.com.

ABA PRO Standings Through Summer Nationals

The American Bicycle Association hosted the Summer Nationals this past weekend, July 11-13, in Roseville, CA. The OAK CREEK BMX Facility is main stay on the ABA BMX tour and has a long standing history with the racers and fans alike. This year saw the return of the ABA BMX PRO Series event to Roseville BMX and the racing at the Summer National event was SMOKIN' HOT!! The OAK CREEK BMX crew really stepped it up and had the facility in tip top shape and ready to race. This was the seventh PRO Series event of the season and the PRO Riders were excited to head up to NOR-CAL to see who had the NOR-CAL PULL!.
With the 2008 Olympic debut for BMX racing coming up quick, and the first USA BMX Team being chosen, BIG CONGRATS go out to Kyle Bennett, Mikey Day, "DR" Donny Robinson, and Jill Kintner for being the first ever BMX athletes to represent USA in the 2008 Olympics!) the buzz, the hype, and the media are all around. Many of the sports top athletes were back on the scene with the Olympic Trials being over. Riders from around the world were on hand to take a shot at getting some much needed points towards the ABA BMX titles. Roseville was the half way point in the 2008 ABA BMX PRO Series and season is shifting into high gear and the fans are loving it! Round seven was all Khalen Young! Haro Bicycles picked the Australian rider up last year and he is doing Tony D. and the gang proud! Khalen was the man to beat in Roseville and Khalen was solid as ever. Khalen nailed down the AA PRO win both days putting his stamp on the weekend and letting the other AA PRO's know he means business and wants the ABA BMX PRO title bad!

Saturday also saw the return of Haro's Steven Cisar, Steven was fresh off the Olympic Trials event held a couple weeks earlier in Chula Vista, CA. and he was taking names and going way FAST! Steven' first race back was a good one he scored a 2nd place finish right behind his Haro team mate giving them the one-two punch for the day. With a few more solid rides like this, you can expect to see Steven right in the middle of the hunt ABA BMX PRO Title and a brand new Suzuki RMZ450!
Another So. Cal kid that has been looking good is Avent Bombshell's Jarrett Kolich. Jarrett has won in the AA PRO class in the past and looked to be back on track for another win in Roseville. Two days of solid riding brought home two 3rd place podium spots for Jarrett.
GT Bicycles also had Joey Bradford stepping his AA PRO game up in Roseville. Joey put together an impressive weekend and brought home his most impressive finish to date. Joey finished up a very respectable 2nd place on Sunday. All his double top secret training he's been doing is really starting to pay-off for him and GT Bicycles.
With a list of riders like this, once again this past weekend shows just how deep the talent pool is on the ABA BMX PRO tour. There has been six different AA PRO winners in seven stops. That's very impressive!
On the Ladies PRO side we saw Arizona's own Dominique Daniels take another HUGE win on Day #1. ABA National #1 girl and girl cruiser turned PRO Dominique Daniels scored a second at least one win at each of the ABA BMX PRO Series events this season. If there is one way to win a title, it's by being that is super consistent. Not to be out done, current ABA National #1 Lady PRO, Alise "The Beast" Post was sitting right where she's used to being on Sunday. Alise brought home the top spot on Sunday after Saturday's solid 2nd place. The Alise Dominique battle is starting to take a nice shape, and the rest of the woman have really stepped it up as well to keep them honest. Stephanie Barragan continues to be a solid podium finisher as she showed in Roseville. Stephanie brought home the 3rd spot on the podium both days. Stephanie is due for another win any day now and we expect to see her on top the podium real soon. Chinese Rider, Mary Liyun also made it out to Roseville. Mary made her USA BMX debut at the ABA BMX Lake Perris event earlier this season and was very impressive. Mary has really been training and made another BIG impression on the USA fans by bringing home a 4th in PRO Ladies class. Mary will be representing her country in the Olympic Games coming up in Beijing, China. BMX really has become an international field. The ladies racing has really stepped it up over the last couple of years and the new crop of younger woman I keep hearing about making the move to the PRO class is very promising for more excitement to come.
Pro Cruiser saw home town boy Pauly Lange back on the gas! Pauly has been so close, so many times to the ABA BMX PRO Cruiser Title he can taste it. Pauly put the hammer down on Day #1 for the big win showing he still wants it Defending ABA BMX National #1 PRO Cruiser Champ, Danny C. had something to say about that though. "Easy Money" rode solid again in Roseville bringing home 2nd on Saturday following that up with a win on Day #2. Danny knows how to win titles and it looks like he well on his way to another one at the half way point in the season.
The Alabama Slamma' Barry Nobles was in the house as well. Barry rode well in AA PRO, but he also brought home a 3rd in PRO Cruiser on Day #2. Clayborn Bikes has done an awesome job this season getting Barry to all the ABA BMX PRO Series events. With all their help Barry has really become a threat to win the ABA PRO Titles in 2008. Crupi's own Tyler Brown was back from the USA Olympic Trials event as well and was lookin' super fast. Tyler nailed down a 3rd in PRO Cruiser on Day #1. VET PRO sensation, Kenth Fallen continues to hang in there with the young bucks taking a 2nd in the PRO Cruiser class on Day #2. I'm sure Bill Ryan and the gang over a Supercross are just stoked on Kenth this season!
Vet Pro was back in action too! This was a Kenth Fallen, DaleHolmes.com. Chad Street weekend. Supercross's Kenth Fallen continues to be "THE MAN" to beat in VET PRO right now. Kenth won both days in Roseville with DaleHolmes.com and Chad Street swapping out 2nd and 3rd place both days. Chad's been all over the podium this season and looks to be a title contender again. Dale's been busy taking care of the Free Agent World Tea. Hats off to Dale and the Free Agent World Team. Dale tells me they have about seven athletes' going to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China for BMX Racing. That's impressive!

The ABA, the city of Roseville, CA. and the entire OAK CREEK BMX crew would like to thank all the participants, families, teams, sponsors, and BMX industry for helping make the Summer National event such a huge success! Next stop, RAD CANYON BMX in Salt Lake City - Utah, July 25-27. We hope to see you all there!

ABA Announces 2008 Redline Cup Schedule

LOCATIONS OF ABA BMX REDLINE CUP FINALS ANNOUNCED!

REDLINE CUP EAST - Kettering BMX, Kettering, OH
September 5-7, 2008

REDLINE CUP CENTRAL- St. Peters BMX, St. Peters MO
September 12-14, 2008

REDLINE CUP WEST - McCollum Park BMX, Everett, WA
September 19-21, 2008

There you have ‘em - for all of you who have already made your main event at a Redline Cup Qualifier (or those of you who plan on qualifying at the remaining RCQ’s), these are the three locations for the Redline Cup Finals - where you can become a REDLINE CUP CHAMPION and earn the Redline Cup No.1 Plate for the next 12 months, the Redline Cup jacket and a photo in the BMXer; just by winning your main event at this event.

The Redline Cup East returns to one of the premiere ABA tracks; the challenging Kettering track in Ohio ran by longtime operators Bob and Anna Bruns. For those in the middle of the U.S., now is the time to make plans for St. Peters, Missouri in mid-September. The Redline Cup Central is traditionally the biggest of the three Finals, and always brings out the best of competition. ABA master track builder, Billy Allen, has just rebuilt St. Peters BMX. And for a big change in venue, the Redline Cup West goes to the Northwest this year, for the very first time in its 14-year history. The location? None other than McCollum Park BMX in Everett, Washington … about 30 minutes north of Seattle.

2008 ABA BMX PRO Standing through Spring Nationals- Albuquerque, NM.

The American Bicycle Association hosted the Spring Nationals this past weekend, May, 23-25 in Albuquerque, NM. The Veloport/Duke City BMX Facility is the only the second BMX only facility built in the world and what a great place it is. The racing at the Spring National event was exciting to say the least! The Duke City BMX crew really stepped it up and had the facility in tip top shape and ready to race! This was the fifth PRO Series event of the season and the PRO Riders were excited to head to the high altitude of New Mexico to see who had the legs on the tour.

With the 2008 Olympic debut just around the corner for BMX racing, the buzz and hype is all around. There is getting to be more and more of the media frenzy at each event. Many of the sports top athletes from around the world were on hand to take a shot at getting some much needed points towards the ABA BMX titles. The 2008 season is shifting into high gear and the fans are loving it! Round five saw a brand new winner win both days in the AA PRO class. The kid from Alabama, Clayborn's Barry Nobles has been making his comeback from knee surgery last October by steadily getting better and better results each weekend. Barry's been making a name for himself on the ABA BMX scene and has been flirting with a win this season. Barry's had a few solid podium finishes, but this weekend Barry was on a mission. Barry seemed to be unstoppable all weekend long winning several motos and best of all the Mains! Barry Nobles took home his first two AA PRO wins in his career this past weekend and we wanted to send a big Congrats out to Barry and Clayborn bikes. The Haro boys, "DB44.com" Derek Betcher and Khalen Young kept Barry honest all weekend with a solid 2 and 3rd place finish on Saturday. DB44 has been picking up the pace lately and Khalen is always a threat for the win! Sunday saw Barry on top of AA PRO again, with Jason Rogers taking a solid 2nd and New Jersey's own Phil Delizia taking his first podium of the year with 3rd. Felt's Phil Delizia is an awesome rider was some impressive skill, if this kids gets on a roll, watch out! Once again this past weekend shows just how deep the talent pool is on the ABA BMX PRO tour. Barry Nobles makes the sixth different AA PRO winner in five stops. That's very impressive!

On the Ladies side we saw ABA National #1 girl and girl cruiser turned PRO Dominique Daniels show why she's the REAL DEAL! Dominique is no fluke, she took the win both days putting another stamp on the ladies PRO class. Terra Nichols was keeping "DD" honest on the track and brought home two more great 2nd place podium finishes both days. Third was nailed down both days by another rookie PRO sensation, GT's Rachel Luna. The ladies racing has really stepped it up over the last couple of years and the new crop of younger woman is very promising for more excitement to come.

Pro Cruiser was the Barry Nobles Kenth Fallen battle. Day #1 saw Albuquerque's own Kenth Fallen pass Barry in the last turn to take the big PRO cruiser win! Barry hung on for a much deserved 2nd with Adam Treadwell taking a break from his Firemen training school to bring home a 3rd place podium finish. Sunday was all Barry Nobles, Barry was pumped from his first AA PRO win on Saturday so he thought he's nail down his first ABA PRO Cruiser win in the same weekend. This Barry's first BIG Pro Cruiser win so we're stoked for him. Kenth Fallen rode to another impressive 2nd place finish, with Adam Treadwell once again looking good with a 3rd place for the day. Adam's been out for a while, but he looked solid all weekend for sure!

Vet Pro was back in action again. Supercross must be stoked on this guy this season. Kenth Fallen continues to be the man to beat this season in the VET PRO ranks. Kenth picked up wins number 6 and 7 for the year at his home town event. Kenth looks to be on a mission for the ABA BMX VET PRO Title and a brand new Suzuki 450F! Both days in the VET PRO class we saw the same results. GHP's John "The Jackal " Purse continues to impress with a 2nd's, Intense/Phantom/ON-TRAC's, Chad Street nailed down third, and GHP's Robert Harris was a solid 4th. Chad's due for a win any day now. He's been soooo close this season he an taste it. Robert Harris has been training like crazy and it showed this weekend. You can never count out John Purse, "The Jackal" is another rider I expect to see on top the PRO podium any day now!

The ABA, the city of Albuquerque, NM. and the entire Duke City crew would like to thank all the participants, families, teams, sponsors, and BMX industry for helping make the Spring Coast National event such a huge success!
